Deal: February tax revenues up 24.9 percent

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Georgia’s net tax collections for February totaled almost $1.25 billion, for an increase of $234.5 million, or 24.9 percent, over February 2015. Year-to-date, net tax revenue collections totaled $13.73 billion, an increase of $1.32 billion, or 10.7 percent, compared to February 2015, when net tax revenues totaled $12.41 billion.

Fraud Prevention Measures and Refunds

Due to issues during 2015 regarding security breaches of third party preparers and the constant threat of tax fraud and refund theft, the Department of Revenue is taking additional fraud prevention measures this filing season to ensure tax refunds are issued to the correct individuals.

Deal: January tax revenues up 6.4 percent

February 8, 2016

On February 8, Gov. Nathan Deal announced that Georgia’s net tax collections for January totaled nearly $2.05 billion, for an increase of $119.3 million, or 6.4 percent, over January 2015. Year-to-date, net tax revenue collections totaled $12.49 billion, an increase of $1.02 billion, or 8.9 percent, compared to January 2015, when net tax revenues totaled almost $11.47 billion.

Deal: December tax revenues up 3.6 percent

On January 13, 2016 Gov. Nathan Deal announced that Georgia’s net tax collections for December totaled $2.04 billion, for an increase of $67.7 million, or 3.6 percent, over December 2014.

The Department of Revenue takes every measure to process tax returns in a timely manner. On December 7, 2015 Gov. Nathan Deal announced that Georgia’s net tax collections for November totaled $1.64 billion, for an increase of $109.7 million, or 7.5 percent, over November 2014. Year-to-date, net tax revenue collections totaled nearly $8.4 billion, an increase of $699.5 million, or 9.1 percent, compared to November 2014, when net tax revenues totaled almost $7.7 billion.
