July Net Tax Revenues Up 2.5%

The State of Georgia’s net tax collections during the first month of FY 2023 totaled nearly $2.21 billion for an increase of $54.2 million, or 2.5 percent, over July 2021 (FY ‘22), when net tax collections approached $2.16 billion.

Guidance related to House Bill 481, Living Infants and Fairness Equality (LIFE) Act

In light of the June 24, 2022, U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and the July 20, 2022, 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in Sistersong v. Kemp, the Department will recognize any unborn child with a detectable human heartbeat, as defined in O.C.G.A. § 1-2-1, as eligible for the Georgia individual income tax dependent exemption.

June Net Tax Revenues Up 14.2%; Fiscal Year 2022 Up 23%

The State of Georgia’s June net tax collections totaled $2.85 billion for an increase of $354.2 million, or 14.2 percent, compared to June 2021 period, when net tax collections totaled $2.50 billion as of June 30, 2021.  For the year-ended June 30, 2022, net tax collections totaled $33.09 billion for an overall increase of $6.19 billion, or 23 percent, compared to Fiscal Year 2021, during which final net tax revenues approached $26.90 billion.

DOR Encourages Public to Check for Unclaimed Property

The Department of Revenue is reminding individuals that they may have unclaimed property in the form of wages, savings accounts, refunds, or safety deposit boxes.

May Net Tax Revenues Up 1.6%

The State of Georgia’s net tax collections for May totaled almost $2.70 billion, for an increase of $41.8 million, or 1.6 percent, compared to May 2021, when net tax collections approached $2.66 billion.  Year-to-date net tax collections totaled nearly $30.24 billion, for an increase of $5.84 billion, or 23.9 percent, compared to fiscal year 2021, when net tax revenues totaled almost $24.40 billion as of the end of May.

Georgia Department of Revenue to Begin Issuing Special, One-Time Tax Refunds

The Department of Revenue announced today that it will begin issuing special, one-time tax refunds this week. This initiative is a result of House Bill 1302, which the Georgia General Assembly recently passed, and Governor Kemp signed into law. This legislation allows for an additional refund of income taxes from 2020, due to the state experiencing a revenue surplus.

April Net Tax Revenues Up 78.9%

The State of Georgia’s net tax collections for April totaled $5.01 billion, for an increase of $2.21 billion, or 78.9 percent, compared to April 2021, when net tax collections totaled $2.80 billion.

Today the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) is reminding taxpayers that the upcoming income tax filing deadline is Monday, April 18, 2022.

March Net Tax Revenues Up 45.5%

The State of Georgia’s net tax collections for March totaled $2.76 billion, for an increase of $862.9 million, or 45.5 percent, compared to March 2021, when net tax collections approached $1.90 billion.  

February Net Tax Revenues Up 1%

The State of Georgia’s net tax collections for February totaled over $1.95 billion, for an increase of $19.8 million, or 1 percent, compared to February 2021, when net tax collections totaled roughly $1.93 billion.
