How long does it take to obtain a alcohol or tobacco license?
The length of time to obtain an alcohol or tobacco license can vary and excludes holidays and weekends. It is based upon the information being filed correctly, the paperwork submitted is complete with no omissions, and being responsive to all necessary information the Department of Revenue representative requests.

Is a bond required to apply for a license?
A bond may be required on specific license types to include but not limited to retail liquor package stores, alcohol manufacturers, alcohol importers, alcohol brokers, and alcohol/tobacco wholesalers. Get a copy of the bond online.

How do I apply for an alcohol or tobacco license?
If this is your first time registering your business with the State of Georgia, please read and follow the instructions on how to Register a New Georgia Business online using the Georgia Tax Center (GTC). Once registered, you may apply for an alcohol or tobacco license online.
Logon to GTC and select register a new tax account under the "I Want To" menu.

I received a citation from a Special Agent, what are the next steps?
The citation will list a hearing date, time, and location. Most hearings are teleconference, but you may request an in-person hearing. You should receive a hearing packet with details of the hearing process, progressive disciplinary policy, and a plea of no contest form. Please read the hearing packet in its entirety for detailed instructions about the hearing process.
