More Information on Tobacco Permits

  • Registered by representatives (sales or promotional) and must be associated with an existing Georgia licensed Manufacturer, Wholesaler/Distributor, or Importer.
  • Allow the individual to represent tobacco products/ brands in the State of Georgia.
  • Not transferrable from one Georgia licensed Manufacturer, Wholesaler/Distributor, or Importer to another.
  • Registered to a Georgia Manufacturer or Importer requires a $10 payment and renewal each year.
  • Registered to a Georgia Wholesale/Distributor does not require a payment or renewal.

Tobacco License

  • Tobacco Wholesaler/Distributor - $250
  • Tobacco Manufacturer - $250
  • Tobacco Dealer/Retailer - $10
  • Special Event Tobacco Permit - $10

Renewal Note: For anyone merely adding vape to an existing tobacco license prior to the renewal date will be charged $10.00. The annual renewal fee to sell tobacco, alternative nicotine, and vapor products has changed to $20.00. This cost includes a $10.00 license fee and an additional fee of $10.00 to add vapor products.

How to Apply Online

  • Go to Georgia Tax Center (login not required)
  • Click "Individual" (towards the bottom of the page)
  • Click “Register a New Permit Account”
  • Under submit your request, click on the green arrow to "Register a new permit account"
  • Complete all steps and required fields, submit and receive a confirmation number

Helpful Information

  • The required tobacco license number is your business’s/employer’s license number. (Be sure to include all 0’s so the license number is 7 digits)
  • You should receive a confirmation number for each submission
  • Credit card and ACH debit payments can be made through Georgia Tax Center.
