Excise tax returns for malt beverages, wines, distilled spirits, cigarettes, cigars, little cigars and loose or smokeless tobacco are submitted through the Georgia Tax Center.

Excise Tax Return Due Dates

Excise tax returns are due by the following dates each month:

  • Alcohol by the 15th
  • Tobacco by the 10th

Updated Farm Winery and Winery Monthly Excise Tax Return

Effective with the July 2024 Monthly Farm Winery and Winery Alcohol Excise Tax Return, the Department has added a new schedule - Hard Cider known as Beer. Wine producers who manufacture hard cider which meets the Departments regulatory definition to be taxed as beer, can file and remit the excise tax at the end of their return.

Additionally, the corresponding Farm Winery Import Template has been updated.
