When Do I Renew IRP?

• Fleet registrations (IRP-apportioned license plates and cab cards) expire on the last day of the IRP Expiration Month.
• The renewals submission period is specific to the name on the account.

The renewal period is based on the IRP account name:

• Business Name – IRP Expiration Month is based on the first letter of the business's name.
• Individual Name – IRP Expiration Month is based on the first letter of the individual's last name.

When will I incur a late fee?

• Fleet renewals filed during the IRP Expiration Month are assessed a mandatory 10% late filing penalty.

• Fleet renewal invoices paid after the last day of the IRP Expiration Month are assessed a mandatory 25% late payment penalty.

Example: Use the table below for information about renewal periods.

First, XYZ Company should find the applicable table row by looking up the first letter of the business name “X” in the first column. The table shows XYZ Company’s fleet registration expires on December 31.

The table also shows XYZ Company has a renewal filing period of October 1-November 30. That means if XYZ Company renews between October 1 and November 30, no late filing penalty will be assessed. If XYZ renews on or after December 1, there will be a 10% late filing penalty.

Additionally, if XYZ makes a payment on or after January 1, there will be a 25% late payment penalty.
