The Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Revenue, pursuant to the powers granted by law, has declared that due to the State of Emergency in Texas, in order to assist in relief efforts, a temporary suspension of the requirements associated with the International Registration Plan (IRP) and the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) shall be granted for vehicles engaged in interstate disaster relief efforts in Texas or traveling through the State of Georgia as part of the disaster relief effort.

This waiver shall not be construed to allow any vehicle to operate in the State of Georgia without valid vehicle registration and insurance as required by the base state. Additionally, carriers are required to maintain compliance with all driver, owner, vehicle, and carrier compliance requirements that may fall outside of the IRP and IFTA orders that are specified within this waiver or any other rule, statute or requirement.

The suspension of IRP and IFTA requirements shall be in effect until 5:00 pm on September 30, 2017, or until completion of the hurricane relief efforts, whichever comes first.
