On Thursday August 13th, 2005, The Georgia Department of Revenue confirmed that Sorletta Capri Shead turned herself into the Denver county jail in Colorado. She was wanted there for multiple crimes including filing false tax returns and ID theft.

The Georgia Department of Revenue opened an investigation into the tax business of Ms. Shead after noticing a pattern of fraud with her submissions. Subsequently all tax returns filed by Ms. Shead were blocked by the State of Georgia and there was no loss.

Josh Waites, Director of the Office of Special Investigations said “Advanced fraud detection is the key to stopping tax theft. We will continue to find and track others who try to cheat the state.”
