Why do we need DRIVES?

This new system will combine the title and license plate functions of DOR with the driver license functions of DDS by streamlining the existing processes while investing for the future. Benefits of updating the system include:

• Improved customer service and communication
• Updated, modern and easy-to-use technology
• Improved data integrity
• Enhanced fraud protection
• Increased data-sharing efficiency between DOR and DDS

The State of Georgia will manage this critical endeavor through a Governance Council.  The council membership consists of not only DOR and DDS, but also the Georgia Technology Authority, the Office of Planning and Budget, the Department of Administrative Services, and representation from a county tax commissioner.
