  • Married Filing Jointly - $24,000
  • Married Filing Separately - $12,000
  • Qualifying Surviving Spouse - $12,000

2022 Tax Year Individual Standard Deductions Amounts

Standard Deductions have changed for tax year 2022. For more information, see the most current Individual Income Tax Instruction Booklet (Form IT-511).

  • Single/Head of Household/Qualifying Surviving Spouse - $5,400
  • Married Filing Jointly - $7,100
  • Married Filing Separately - $3,550
  • Additional Deduction of $1,300 if:
    • Taxpayer or spouse turns age 65 before the close of the tax year, or
    • Taxpayer or spouse is blind at the close of the year

2021 Tax Year Individual Standard Deductions Amounts

  • Single/Head of Household/Qualifying Surviving Spouse - $4,600
  • Married Filing Jointly - $6,000
  • Married Filing Separately - $3,000
  • Additional Deduction of $1,300 if:
    • Taxpayer or spouse turns age 65 before the close of the tax year, or
    • Taxpayer or spouse is blind at the close of the year
