When a Security Interest is Perfected

On this page find information on what to do when a when a security interest is perfected.  Submit the following to MVD or your County Tag Office:

1. Completed and signed Form MV-1 Title/Tag Application or completed and signed Form T-53 Notice of Security Interest
2. If filed within 30 days of the creation date, a security interest will be perfected as of the contract’s security date
3. If not filed within 30 days of the creation date, a security interest will not be perfected until the date received by the Department
