Donation Credit Pre-Approval Submission (Instructions)
On this page find information on the Qualified Organization pre-approval request process via the Georgia Tax Center.
A taxpayer must be registered with the Georgia Department of Revenue before a pre-approval case can be submitted. Taxpayers are normally registered when they file an Income Tax Return. The taxpayer must have one of the following account types to apply for the donation credit: Corporate, Partnership, Individual or Fiduciary.
If the taxpayer has never filed an income tax return with the Georgia Department of Revenue, they must call the Taxpayer Services Call Center at (877) 423-6711 to become registered before you can submit a request on their behalf.
NOTE: Instructions will be different in some steps if that taxpayer is an individual versus a corporation/fiduciary.
How to Submit a Pre-Approval Request for a Client
- Log onto the Georgia Tax Center
- On the Home screen click on the More… tab. Scroll down to the Management tile and click the Manage my credits.
- Next click on the Request Pre-Approval hyperlink.
- Verify your tax credit appears in the box under Credit Type, click Next.
- Click the button under Use This Fund and click Next.
Enter in the Qualified Organization’s information.
Note: the fields on the left will be automatically populated. On the right, provide the Contact Person, Contact Title, and E-mail or Phone; you only need to provide either the phone number or email. Click Next.
Enter the Contributor Information.
Important: Be sure to verify the current tax year end date under Filing Period Information for the taxpayer is correct. This will affect their ability to use the credit.
Then click Next.
- Enter the Contribution Amount, then click Next.
- If you have supporting documents you would like to include, click the Add Attachment button. This is not required. Click Next.
- Select the Type of document, provide a description, then click OK. Your document will upload to the page, click Next.
- Your document(s) will upload to the Attachments section, click Next.
Review the Summary page. If anything is incorrect click Previous.
Read and approve the Application Certification Statements. Click the Checkbox for both. Next, type the applicant’s name in the box. Then click Submit.
- A pop-up message will appear. Click OK to submit the request.
You may either print your confirmation or click OK.
