Central Collection

The Central Collection Section is responsible for handling compliance matters involving individuals. These compliance matters include offers in compromise, bankruptcy, and releases of property subject to state tax liens.

A Central Collection Legal Analysis Specialist may call your home or business to assist you in resolving your account.   If you receive a call regarding your account, you should know that the Department does not:

  • Demand that you make an immediate payment to a source other than the Georgia Department of Revenue.
  • Demand that you use a specific payment method, such as a prepaid debit card, gift card or wire transfer. The Department will not ask for your debit or credit card numbers over the phone.
  • Threaten to bring in local police, immigration officers or other law-enforcement to have you arrested for not paying.
