The Central Collection Section is responsible for handling compliance matters involving individuals. These compliance matters include offers in compromise, bankruptcy, and releases of property subject to state tax liens.
A Central Collection Legal Analysis Specialist may call your home or business to assist you in resolving your account. If you receive a call regarding your account, you should know that the Department does not:
- Demand that you make an immediate payment to a source other than the Georgia Department of Revenue.
- Demand that you use a specific payment method, such as a prepaid debit card, gift card or wire transfer. The Department will not ask for your debit or credit card numbers over the phone.
- Threaten to bring in local police, immigration officers or other law-enforcement to have you arrested for not paying.
