GTC Username Update

In order to better secure taxpayer information, the Department of Revenue (DOR) recently changed the username requirements on the Georgia Tax Center (GTC). Emails were recently sent to all GTC users who have usernames that do not meet DOR’s new security measures to outline how and when to change their username. 

DOR Warns Buyers to beware of flooded vehicles in wake of Hurricanes

In the wake of Hurricane season and the resulting widespread flooding, the Department of Revenue (DOR) is joining Attorney General Chris Carr and officials throughout the State and country in warning customers to beware of flood-damaged vehicles being sold as new or used, undamaged vehicles. 

Despite Data Breaches, Progress in the Fight Against Tax Fraud

Commissioner Lynne Riley recently traveled to Washington, DC to take part in the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) Annual Security Summit to discuss the progress in the fight against tax fraud. In addition to the IRS, other State tax authorities and the tax preparation industry were on hand to collaborate on ways to continue making strides against tax fraud.

Deal: September tax revenues up 3.1 percent

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Georgia’s net tax collections for September totaled nearly $2.08 billion, for an increase of approximately $62 million, or 3.1 percent, compared to last year when net tax collections totaled roughly $2.01 billion. Year-to-date, net tax revenue collections totaled $5.48 billion, for an increase of $171.5 million, or 3.2 percent, compared to September 2016, when net tax revenues totaled $5.31 billion.
