March 8, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 8, 2016-Atlanta, GA

During this year's filing season, many taxpayers often call the Department of Revenue (DOR) seeking a status update on their income tax return. Due to high call volume, some taxpayers may receive a busy signal when dialing our main line (1-877- 423-6711). The Department of Revenue has several ways for Georgia Taxpayers to check the status of their refund. The Georgia Tax Center (GTC) can be used, not only to check the status of a refund, but also for several other useful DOR functions.

In addition to using the Georgia Tax Center, taxpayers can check the status of their return/refund by using the myGAtax mobile app, which is available on both Apple and Android devices. In addition to being able to check the status of a return online, taxpayers can also utilize the Department's self-service options (Including International Registration Plan (IRP) needs, calculating Title Ad Valorem Tax, in participating counties taxpayers can renew their vehicle registration , and inquire about unclaimed property), and find many answers to Department of Revenue related questions on our homepage. The apps, website, and GTC, are available so taxpayers of the State can check their status and connect with DOR in a way that is Faster, Friendlier and Easier.
